FAQs About Workplace Yoga

  • How long of a class do you recommend? Classes can run from 20 minutes to 60 minutes in length.

  • Is there a limit to how many people can come to a workplace yoga class? Class size is generally determined by the room you have available. Most classes range in size from 10-20 people.

  • Do we need chairs? If we determine a chair class is most appropriate for your employees, chairs will be needed.

  • Will you bring props? Much corporate yoga can be practiced without a large number of props. However, a limited number of blocks can be brought to class.

  • Do we need to supply mats? Many students prefer to bring their own mats. Some mats can be brought to class for newer students.

  • Will you teach all the classes? Will someone else help you teach the classes? A well-qualified yoga instructor will lead the class.

  • What happens if you are ill and can’t teach a class? As much as nobody wants them, illnesses do happen. At DDK, we believe the appropriate action is for an ill teacher to stay at home for their well being and that of your employees. If a teacher is ill, notice will be given as soon as possible if an appropriate substitute is not available. In the event of a cancellation, a make-up class will be scheduled.

  • Is corporate yoga appropriate for all ages, sizes and body types? Yoga is for everybody. However, not every yoga is for everybody. Corporate classes are designed to be taught to the general public. Students with specific health concerns should speak with the instructor and use their own knowledge to determine if a class or particular posture is appropriate for their body.

  • How many classes am I committing to? We will work together to determine a beneficial number of classes for your employees. Is there a contract? There will be a contract for the selected number of classes.

  • What happens if I want to add more classes? We’d be delighted to help you here!

  • Is there a discount for offering more classes? Yes, we can discuss a discount for a larger number of classes.

  • What happens if no one comes to my classes? Can I cancel? Contracts will last for an agreed period of time. We will help you promote wellness within your company and work with you to build up your class attendance.

  • How far will you travel to a location? We are willing to travel to Knoxville and surrounding areas. Please contact us to discuss if your location is within the range of Knoxville teachers.

  • How many times a week should we offer yoga to our employees? You could start with the bare minimum of 1 class per week. Most people experience the true benefits of yoga with at least 2-3 practices per week. Please ask about our Road Warrior program for your traveling associates.

Improving Employee Engagement

In a time of historically low unemployment, not only is employee retention critical, productivity is paramount. While it’s easier for companies to understand and track the costs of absenteeism, the true nemesis of productivity, presenteeism, can often be overlooked.

What is Presenteeism?

Presenteeism means folks are showing up for work, but they aren’t working...at least not to full capacity. One study, validated against the World Health Organization’s Workplace Health and Productivity Questionnaire, found that workers admitted to being unproductive for the equivalent of 57.5 days a year! That’s nearly 3 months! Compare that to only 4 to 6 days lost to absenteeism and it’s quite mind boggling.

How Will Yoga at Work Help?

Two major factors of presenteeism are chronic pain and anxiety. The good news is that study after study shows how yoga shines in mitigating both pain and anxiety.

Not only does yoga help decrease the causes of presenteeism, it has also been shown to boost productivity and critical thinking.
